John Deacon has been writing about consumer tech and home automation for longer than he cares to admit. Somewhere around year three of covering robot vacuums, he realized he cared more about whether a product actually worked in a real home than whether it had the longest spec sheet. So he stopped writing for other people and started reviewing on his own terms.

He combines his own hands-on testing with research from trusted sources to build reviews that focus on what actually matters — not what's on the box. The site uses affiliate links, but that doesn't influence what gets recommended. If something sucks, he says it sucks.
